frequently asked questions
faqs for everyone
the big-picture questions — who we are, what it costs, and how to reach a real person. organizers and attendees each have their own page, too.
about cakepop
what is cakepop?
fair-fee event ticketing. organizers use cakepop to create events and sell tickets; fans use it to find shows and buy tickets without the junk fees.
we’re a team of designers, engineers, musicians, and fanatics who have built some of the biggest event and ticketing platforms in the world. cakepop exists because live experiences should be accessible, and tickets should be too.
who’s behind cakepop?
a us-based team. the platform is operated by WhoTheFolk, LLC, a delaware limited liability company — the company named in our terms of service and privacy policy.
where is cakepop available?
in the united states. prices are in us dollars, and you need to be 18 or older to use cakepop.
does cakepop run the events?
no — cakepop is the ticketing platform. each event is run by its organizer, who sets the details, the door rules, and the refund policy, and your ticket is an agreement between you and them. we handle the ticketing, and we process payments and approved refunds on the organizer’s behalf.
fees & pricing
how does cakepop make money?
from a small, flat fee on each paid ticket — paid by the buyer, and shown before checkout. organizers don’t pay cakepop a fee on their ticket sales, and there are no setup, monthly, or per-event fees. organizers do pay standard card processing, currently 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction.
what are cakepop’s ticket fees?
a flat amount per ticket, set by the ticket’s price:
- free tickets — $0
- up to $10 — $1
- $10.01 to $49.99 — $2
- $50 to $99.99 — $3
- $100 and up — $4
that’s the whole ladder: the fee never goes above $4, and it doesn’t creep up as ticket prices climb. the full breakdown is on our fees page.
the cakepop app
is there a cakepop app?
yes — get it on the app store for iphone or google play for android. it’s the same account as the website, so your tickets, orders, and profile follow you between them.
what can i do in the app?
discover events, buy tickets (seat maps included), keep every ticket and order in one place, and accept tickets friends send you. organizers also get a built-in scanner for the door.
privacy & your data
does cakepop sell my data?
no — we don’t sell your personal information. when you buy a ticket, that event’s organizer receives your name, email address, and phone number so they can run the event and reach ticket holders; whether they can also email you about their other events is up to you. the details are in our privacy policy.
will cakepop text me?
only when you’ve asked us to. our support line replies when you text it first, and never sends marketing. separately, you can opt in to cakepop event texts — event news, never a condition of buying a ticket — or to one-time alerts like “notify me.” reply STOP to any of them to stop. it’s all in our sms terms.
how do i delete my account?
on the web, open account settings and choose delete account; in the app, it’s on your profile tab. it takes effect right away. records of past orders are kept in de-identified form, and any unused tickets go with the account — so transfer the ones you still want first.
can’t sign in? email privacy@cakepop.io. the full process is on our delete your account & data page.
