buying tickets, finding them, getting in, and what to do when plans change.

buying tickets

do i need an account to buy tickets?

usually — you can sign in or create one right at checkout. some events also let you check out as a guest: enter your name, email, and cell number, and your tickets are emailed to you. you can turn a guest checkout into a full account later by setting a password with forgot password.

what fees will i pay?

one flat fee per ticket, based on its price: $1 for tickets up to $10, $2 up to $49.99, $3 up to $99.99, and $4 for $100 and up. free tickets have no fee, and no fee is ever more than $4. see the full breakdown.

is tax included in the price?

the price you see on an event is the ticket plus its fee. where sales tax or a local surcharge applies, it’s added at checkout — estimated in your cart, and itemized before you pay.

how long are tickets held while i check out?

10 minutes. checkout shows a countdown, and if it runs out before you pay, the tickets are released and you’ll need to pick them again.

how can i pay?

by card, plus any other options you see at checkout. payments are processed by stripe — we never see or store your full card number.

my payment didn’t go through. what now?

if a payment fails, no tickets are issued, and any pending authorization is released by your bank. check your card details and billing zip code and try again. if your bank shows a charge but you never got a confirmation, email support@cakepop.io with the event name and the email you used — we’ll track down the order.

how do presale and promo codes work?

enter your code on the event page or at checkout. a code can unlock tickets that are otherwise hidden, take money off, or both. codes aren’t case-sensitive, and most can be used once per person.

is there a limit on how many tickets i can buy?

you can pick up to 10 of each ticket type per checkout. an organizer can also set a per-person limit for their event — and tickets someone transfers to you count toward it.

how does reserved seating work?

for seated events, you choose your seats on the seat map. to keep rows sellable, the map won’t let you strand a single empty seat next to your selection.

the event is sold out — is there a waitlist?

not a waitlist, but tap “notify me” on the event page and we’ll send you a one-time alert if tickets become available. it’s a single heads-up, so move fast when it lands.

your tickets

where are my tickets?

in my tickets on the web and in the cakepop app — same account, same tickets. we also email a confirmation with your tickets attached and a calendar file, and every receipt lives under my orders.

i checked out as a guest. where are my tickets?

in your email — they went to the address you entered at checkout. to see them in my tickets (and to transfer them), set a password for that email with forgot password.

can i add my ticket to apple wallet or google wallet?

yes, where it’s available: open a ticket and you’ll see add to apple wallet on iphone or add to google wallet on android (both show on desktop, too). the pass carries the same qr code as your ticket, and a saved pass still works if the venue has no signal. no buttons? the ticket in your account works exactly as well.

will i get a reminder before the event?

yes — we email you a reminder about 24 hours before the event.

what do i need at the door?

your ticket’s qr code — in the cakepop app, on the web, or in your wallet pass. turn your screen brightness up; door staff scan it and see right away that it’s valid. multi-day passes scan once per day. doors, age limits, id, and re-entry rules are set by the organizer and listed on the event page.

my ticket won’t scan. why?

it’s almost always one of these:

  • already scanned — the ticket has been checked in; the box office can look it up.
  • transfer pending — the qr code is hidden mid-transfer; the sender can cancel it, or the recipient can accept.
  • refunded or voided — the ticket is no longer valid for entry.
  • not found — that code wasn’t a cakepop ticket; make sure you opened the ticket itself, not a picture of the confirmation.

transfers, upgrades & refunds

can i send my ticket to someone else?

yes. open the ticket in my tickets, choose transfer ticket, and enter their email address, phone number, or both. they’ll need a cakepop account to accept. once they do, the ticket moves to their account with a brand-new qr code, and the old one stops working. until then, you can cancel the transfer anytime.

can i sell my ticket?

not yet — resale and ticket exchange are coming soon. in the meantime, reselling cakepop tickets on other sites isn’t allowed under our terms.

can i upgrade my ticket?

if the event offers upgrades, you’ll see the option on your ticket. you pay for the new ticket, and your original tickets are refunded automatically — what you paid, including fees and tax. tickets bought together upgrade together.

can i get a refund?

each organizer sets their own refund policy, so start with them — many event pages list their contact details under “questions about this event?”. when a refund is approved, it goes back to your original payment method, usually within 5–10 business days depending on your bank. our refund policy has the details.

what happens if my event is canceled?

if an event is canceled and not rescheduled, you’re refunded automatically to your original payment method — watch your email for the confirmation. refunds usually land within 5–10 business days.

what if my event is postponed?

your tickets normally stay valid for the new date. if you can’t make it, reach out to the organizer about your options.

i see a charge i don’t recognize.

email support@cakepop.io right away with the details, and we’ll look into it.

account & notifications

how do i sign in or reset my password?

sign in with the email you used to buy your tickets. forgot your password? use forgot password and we’ll email you a reset link.

how do i choose what cakepop sends me?

in notification settings, switch the monthly newsletter and cakepop event texts on or off. order confirmations, password resets, and transfer emails always go through. to stop texts, reply STOP.

what does an organizer see about me?

when you buy tickets to an event, its organizer receives your name, email address, and phone number. whether they can email you about their other events is up to you, and we never sell your personal information — see our privacy policy.

how do i contact an event’s organizer?

look for “questions about this event?” on the event page — it lists the organizer’s contact details when they’ve added them.

how do i delete my account?

on the web, open account settings and choose delete account; in the app, it’s on your profile tab. it takes effect right away. records of past orders are kept in de-identified form, and any unused tickets go with the account — so transfer the ones you still want first.
